The collection documents the effort in 1973 to create a collective bargaining unit and the subsequent organization and operation of the union. The collection includes correspondence, agenda and minutes, newsletters, and membership records. Much of the correspondence deals with annual negotiations on salary structure with the Vermont State Colleges president and lobbying the state legislature. The collection also includes records of grievances about governance issues, loss of tenure, loss of jobs, and age discrimination.
